DEPARTMENTAL PROFILE

 

The department was established in 1979 under Sri Venkateswara University and was shifted to the Vikrama Simhapuri University in the year 2011 has a glorious history of 40 years of its fruitful existence. The faculty of the department with diversified specializations is always trying for innovative academic Research pursuits to provide qualitative teaching and research to the scholars and students. Prof. K. Sasira Babu was the founder Head of the department and served as Head, Special Officer, and Dean College Developmental Council. Later Prof. K.V.Ramana Rao served as Head of the Department, Dean and Vice-Principal

AIMS & OBJECTIVES THE DEPARTMENT

  1. To impart advance education in Zoology.

  2. To develop experimental skills of the students in the subjects.

  3. To develop scientific temperament and scientific attitude in students.

  4. To prepare the students for admission to higher studies.

  5. To prepare the students for employments in small and medium scale industries.

  6. To motivate the students for self employment.

CURRICULUM DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Syllabus based on UGC model curriculum

  •  Change from yearly pattern to semester system

  •  Semester system introduced from 2002-03 onwards

  •  Choice based credit system implemented from 2006 - 07 onwards

  •  Oriented towards UGC-CSIR, net/slet and gate exams.

  •  syllabus revised periodically and last revision on 2018

Andhra Pradesh is having 921 km of coastal line and Nellore district is having 193 km of coast. In the recent past AP is emerging as no.1 state in aquaculture produce. Basing on this syllabus revised and we are training our students to support aquaculture industry for

the local need. More than 18 students are in key positions in prawn hatcheries, feed mills, rearing units and fish units.
